Goa Trip 2022 :)

The best part of the Goa vacation was supposed to be the air travel...but we took the road this time and boy o boy have they made the highways super nice...hats off to the Central, Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra governments...job super well done...one tiny suggestion the toll gates should not need slowing down a vehicle...it can be done at normal speed :) we also learnt that google optimizes stuff on its algorithm in a way that it decides for itself is a time saver route...while coming to Goa...we took some forest road that was in a condition that reminded me of Germany after the world war...someone please send that forest officer some funds for a road and a thank you...we did not see too much wild life...except the jungle warfare unit of the MLIRC on their exercises right in the middle of nowhere in the forest :) anyways...having a car in Goa is a boon...you save a lot on travel which would otherwise go through the Club Mahindra travel desk...my mom and sis always use the travel desk...however this time we had the option...so we used our car...to optimize we found a place to eat [actually many places] right outside Club Mahindra where we found edible stuff...a visit or two to the Varca beach brought back memories of the visit in 2018 with Sumit, Manish and company...met up with my tai[she politely reminds me of her being my atya everytime :)] only to realize the prince of Goa had moved to Pune for work related stuff...!!! Cmon Goa...take it up as a challenge...dont let the jobs move out of "town"...specially the ones that Goa easily has talent for...!!! Anyways...we covered everything from the beaches of Varca to Baga,,,and all eateries from Fat Fish to Martins Corner...went to the Basilica and the old jail...all in all a great time...Goan fish creations are awesome and we tried everything from Pomfret to Surmai to Shark to Snapper to Prawns and the list continues. The return journey was also very pleasant...the highways remained intact for the week we were there :) hats of to Gadkari Sir for the smooth drive and of course the PM for giving him the opportunity to work on the national highways.

At Chorla Ghat...the drive was quite nice...glad we took Sudhin kaka's advise :)

Road trip to Goa has been been a family favorite, a ritual we follow every year since 2006 except for the covid years. During the earlier years we used to take a halt at Sawantwadi, as the car became faster, driver more seasoned and passengers more courageous, its a straight drive to Goa.
Your post reminded me of our 1st trip to goa in 2006 by the NH17. Was really scared because of the steep turns, ghats and two way roads. But my dad kept encouraging to take it as a challenge. And I was confident with dad by my side, any challenge is surmountable. Today when we look back it brings a smile to all 3 of us. My dad can't drive 🙄 but was confident we can easily manage and we believed in him. Probably that's what parents are strong pillars, "vitamin F" to recharge you from time to time.
