Visit to Cooper Government Hospital for the First Dose of the Vaccine

 


Was an eventful day...for the second time in my life I went to Cooper hospital today to get my vaccine...the first time I went was when I injured myself during cricket as a kid...I reached the vaccination center...was in a queue for about ten minutes...then reached the seating area...separate zones for first dose and second dose folks...the guys kept the entry organized to the tee...when my turn arrived I was asked to meet the medical staff with my file for medicines for sugar and liver issues!...they looked through the list and sent me through to the vaccine area...less than three minutes later I had my vaccine...the attendant said I looked like someone who had already taken the vaccine :) I assured her this was my first dose...once done I was requested to wait in the observation area...thirty minutes later I was on my way home...all in a days work...I have NEVER seen the government so organized on such a scale...there must have been at least hundreds of people lined up...some patient...some impatient...but the staff did an outstanding job...the sad part is that the unfortunate misguided reporting you see on TV is far from the ground reality...the central and state governments working together have done a marvelous job and I hope the vaccination drive goes smoothly for all the folks in Mumbai presently...hoping some day that they also print the number of patients with Covid as opposed to the ones recovered to paint the real statistic...as the number of properly reported good things done by the already overloaded medical staff is going unnoticed...I think dad's generation would have been proud of their students and probably their students handling this national emergency so well under such extreme levels of pressure...a bit surprised...a bit at peace...and quite a bit proud of the medical fraternity.

Kaziranga National Park has four gates for entry into the buffer zones...the drive lasts about two hours per gate...and if you are lucky you will get a guide (gypsy driver) who is full of knowledge and will explain all the names of the birds and animals during the drive. The East gate is a bird watchers paradise...actually all gates are equally interesting...this time of the year makes it a perfect destination to visit as the river levels are low and the animals are in their natural habitat with full abundance. The brave rangers of Kaziranga that look after the wildlife round the clock...it is sad that there are still poachers in this beautiful animal paradise...needless to say that the rangers keep them at bay. Some general wildlife pictures i tried to capture with my super old Canon EOS550D with a Tamron 18-400mm lens...i would have loved to upgrade to a Canon EOS R7 with a Canon 200-800mm lens...however that combination is a bit heavy on the hands and my fingers were literally cramp...

A good visit to Kaziranga National Park [Rhino land]

I'm NOT  a professional photographer...however during my recent  visit to Kaziranga National Park as part of my annual holiday i captured the below images. These two panoramas are typical of the landscape of Kaziranga...it is spread over 430 Sq. Km....vast expanses  of fertile land covered with silt from the river Brahmaputra...the river floods every year...all the animals are affected annually. This is a typical Bamboo built structure...in this case it is a restaurant...had some local chicken here...! A visit to the Orchid Park...a very nice collection of orchids from the entire North-East India...they have kept them alive and cultivated them through a lot of sheer effort...hats off to the local Karbi folks for thinking of such an idea and developing it. There was a traditional dance program at the arena next to the orchid park...sneaked in some photos :) These are traditional dances from Assam and North-East India...typically done during harvest time etc. The Tea Factor...

A taste of Freedom :)

  It has been ages since i took the opportunity to swing the flag around...this year just happened to be the one...many people post independence feel patriotic about this day...some feel like they can take their freedom for granted...me on the other hand...i don't really go all out in the colors of the flag...but I'm quite a bit nationalistic...quite a bit conservative...and quite a bit of a kid singing those happy songs in my mind...leading the  mind readers to their own "graves" in my own sweet way...best part is they don't even mind :) maybe they don't understand...the matrix is never meant to have all the keys to the universe in one place...they are distributed all over the place...and well hidden...some in plain sight...life has been one roller coaster ride...from those streets where they sold our lives for a dollar...to these streets where the grid is too kind and provides protection and affection...we are wary and we are aware...for it is not everyday t...
